FAQ

Straight Answers Before You Send a File

What it costs, how fast it is, who we work for and what happens to your data, answered in writing.

OverheadAndProfit.ai is not a public adjuster. We work for the contractor, never contact the carrier or the homeowner, and do not interpret coverage. You review and submit everything. OverheadAndProfit.ai does not guarantee claim approval.

The basics

What is a roofing supplement?

A supplement is the contractor's request that the insurance carrier review its estimate again, adding items or quantities the first estimate left out. Each added item is backed by documentation: a code section, a manufacturer requirement, a measurement or a photo.

The carrier reviews it and decides what it approves.

What does OverheadAndProfit.ai do?

You upload the carrier's Xactimate estimate with your photos and measurement report. Our pipeline compares the estimate with the roof and flags items it may have missed, each with the reason behind it.

You review every line, then download a supplement report, a justification letter and a carrier email draft, ready for you to send under your own company's name.

Who do you work for?

The roofing contractor, and only the contractor. Your company signs up and pays per claim.

We are not a public adjuster. We do not represent homeowners, we never contact, negotiate with or settle with an insurance carrier, and we do not interpret policies or coverage. We prepare documentation for your review; you decide what to submit and you submit it.

Where the line between a contractor's estimate and claim negotiation sits in your state is a question for your own attorney.

What kind of work do you cover?

Residential roofing. The report works through the roof scope on the carrier's Xactimate estimate.

Every flagged line comes to you to accept, edit or remove before the final report is built, so nothing your crew won't install has to go out.

Will a supplement get my claim approved for more?

No one can promise that. The carrier decides what it approves. What we do is make sure each item you send is documented and explained, so it can be checked.

OverheadAndProfit.ai does not guarantee claim approval.

Pricing and payment

How does the fee work?

A flat price per claim: $200 for 5 hours, $250 for 2.5 hours, $300 for under 1 hour, plus Texas sales tax. It is never a percentage of the supplement, and there is no monthly minimum.

Your card is charged only once we have checked your upload and approved it. If a file is unreadable or a quantity is missing, we ask you for it first and nothing is charged until it is right.

Can I try it before I pay?

Yes. Your first supplement claim is free, and work on it starts without a payment card.

To open the finished free report, you put a card on file for later claims. Saving the card does not charge you for the free report.

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay once for each claim you order, with no fixed schedule. Your saved card is charged for that claim after its upload is approved, and our payment processor stores the card details.

What if the analysis finds nothing missing?

Then the report says so. That is a real answer about the carrier's estimate, and the fee for that claim still applies, because the fee pays for the analysis rather than for a result.

The report

What exactly do I get back?

Three documents: the supplement report (a PDF listing each added item with its quantity and the reason behind it), a justification letter, and a draft email to the carrier.

You download them from your dashboard, and we email you a link when they are ready.

Can I change the report before I use it?

Yes, and you should check it. Each flagged line waits for you to accept, edit or remove it. The final report is built only from the lines you approve.

What backs each item in the report?

Each line carries its reason. Where code drives the scope, that is the IRC or IBC section, using the property's address to find the code in force there. Where it doesn't, the line says what it rests on instead: a manufacturer requirement, standard installation practice, a measurement or a photo.

Quantities come from the estimate and the measurements you upload. When one is missing, we ask you for it instead of guessing.

Who works my file?

Our AI pipeline reads the estimate, photos and measurements and drafts the report. Right now, our team also checks every finished report before it is released to you.

Either way, the report is a draft for your team. A qualified person on your side checks every line against the job before anything goes to a carrier.

Do I need Xactimate to use it?

No. You upload the carrier's estimate as a PDF and get PDFs back. We do not create Xactimate (ESX) files, so if you want the added items inside Xactimate, someone on your side with Xactimate enters them.

Sending a claim

What do you need from me?

The property address, the carrier's full Xactimate estimate (the whole estimate, not a summary page), your job-site photos, and your measurement report.

If anything can't be read or a quantity is missing, the claim comes back to you with a note saying exactly what is needed, before any charge.

What files can I upload?

The carrier's estimate as a PDF or a Word (.docx) file, photos as JPEG, PNG, HEIC or WebP (straight from an iPhone is fine), and the measurement report as a PDF.

How fast is it, and when does the clock start?

You pick the speed when you order: 5 hours, 2.5 hours, under 1 hour. $200 includes 5 hours.

The clock starts when we approve your claim: after we check your upload and, for a paid claim, your card is charged. Hours are elapsed hours, weekends and holidays included, and once the clock starts it does not pause.

Where do I see progress?

In your OverheadAndProfit.ai dashboard, which shows where each claim stands, and by email when a report is ready.

There is no CRM access to grant and no shared login to set up.

Can I use it from my phone on the job?

Yes. OverheadAndProfit.ai installs on your phone straight from the browser, with no app store, and address entry and file uploads work offline.

What happens when the carrier responds?

We never talk to the carrier. Your report includes the supplement, a justification letter and a carrier email draft, all for you to edit and send under your own company's name.

If the carrier pushes back, email us their reply and we can help you draft a response for you to review and send yourself.

Your data and your account

What happens to my files and my homeowner's information?

You upload only the claim you want analyzed. We never need access to your CRM or your other jobs.

Outside AI service providers read the estimate text and photos to prepare the report, and those can include homeowner names, addresses and claim numbers. We never sell your data or your homeowner's data, and never use it for advertising.

Claim files are kept 90 days after delivery so you can reference them during the carrier's process, then purged. You can delete any claim sooner, anytime.

Do you ever contact my homeowner?

No. We never contact homeowners, never advise them on coverage, policies or deductibles, and never market to them. The homeowner is your customer.

What if I want to stop?

Just stop. There is no contract term, no subscription and no notice period, because you pay per claim.

Download your reports before you close your account. Claim files are deleted within 30 days of an account closing.
